Strategies For Keeping Your Blog Fresh

By Beverley Steege

Making a site or blog attractive enough to compel readers to keep going back for more is a daunting task, but it is what you need to do. We have some powerful techniques you can put to work immediately to make your blog fresh and up to date.

Write Guest Posts: In order to increase the interactivity on your blog and to keep it fresh, you need to take action on promoting it on a regular basis. Getting more traffic and attention can help to motivate you to take your blog to the next level. A simple way to promote your blog is to contact other bloggers in your niche and ask them if they need content. This can be a great way to make people aware of your blog, as they see your name (and a link to your blog) attached to your guest post. Exchanges with other bloggers in your niche can be very helpful as well; you both guest blog on each other's blogs so everyone gets new content. The only difference between being a guest blogger and posting to your own blog is where it gets published.

Readers Want to Know You Care: No matter what your blog focus is, your readers want you to help their life in some way. People, at their very core, want to know someone cares about them even when it comes to blog posts, so make sure your focus is them and not yourself.

Taking Breaks is Okay: Keeping your blog freshly updated certainly doesn't mean that you need to slog at times when you don't want; this can affect your productivity, which is not good. Most of the blogging platforms out there have a system where you can schedule posts, why not take advantage of this feature? When you're on your peak of productivity, go ahead and write some extra posts for the future. You can then schedule these posts for the days you want to publish them or just let them remain "unpublished" as a backup for those days when you don't feel like writing. You will feel much better when you can have your post done ahead of schedule. Having pressure on you is never fun, so by staying ahead you will feel much more productive.

Being consistent in updating your blog is hard, but in the long run it will help you develop and maintain a quality blog with a number of readers.
